I don't how I missed this earlier, but better late than never they say, and I agree.

This is such a dystopian surreal piece that in its fantastic premises and articulation reveals that which is perfectly grounded in the reality of what politics means today, namely two choices: one of dirt, the other of dust and pebbles.

What a marvelous ride, Greg. I salute you. You’ve well captured the essence of the trap that keeps many blinded - and the means to escape it.

The literary salon brought me here!

A really powerful piece. It really captures the way, I think, many of us feel but fail to articulate.

It's going to be hard to forget this imagery every election season from now on.

Victor D. Sandiego called my attention to this story. An interesting and insightful tale that exposes many truths. Blackmail or threats have long been my explanation for some of the behavior I witness from politicians. I liked the way you developed the setting bit by bit as the story progressed. Matilda's observations seemed a bit mature for a girl who played with dolls, but they served the development of the story.

Thank you so much K.C., always great to have my work connect with other like-minded souls such as yourself. Blackmail and threats indeed...such a sadistic but effective control mechanism. The story seemed to want to travel through the lens of an innocent persona, hence I created Matilda, who really just wants to go home and play with her dolls.
